Things You Might Be Wondering

You don’t need all the answers to feel drawn to this space.
But if you’re wondering how it works, where it’ll be, or why we’re doing it this way—this page holds the practical stuff.

The dream is emotional. The build is logistical. Here’s how they meet.

Who is this retreat for?
Return to Her is for women who are carrying more than they were ever meant to hold. Some come grieving. Some come burned out. Some come healing from trauma or loss. And some come simply because they’re tired of always being strong, always being good, always being “on.”

You don’t have to be in crisis to deserve rest. You don’t have to be falling apart to need space to exhale.

This retreat is for any woman who is tired of performing — and ready to return to herself.

Where will the retreat be located?
We are actively searching for 20–40 acres of land within an hour of Columbus, Ohio. The ideal location will include forest, open space, and enough seclusion to create a true sanctuary for women.

What will the retreat include?
The full build includes 8 guest cabins (each with heat, A/C, and private toilets), 2 ADA-accessible bath houses, a central lodge for gathering and meals, housing for staff, a founder’s home, and shelter for healing animals.

Retreat programming will offer rest, rituals, music, story circles, creative expression, nature, stillness, and sisterhood — no performance, no pressure.
Some retreats will also include special guests — musicians, healers, teachers, or artists — who bring their own medicine to the circle.

What is the $500,000 for?
The $500,000 will be used as a down payment to secure a business loan for the full retreat build. This structure allows us to:

  • Purchase the land

  • Begin development immediately

  • Keep future retreat costs low for guests

  • Avoid dependence on outside investors
Your donation is not just seed money — it's the foundation that will make this village real.

What happens if the full goal isn’t reached?
Every dollar raised will still go toward launching Return to Her. If we fall short of the $500,000 goal, we’ll pursue alternative funding options — smaller loans, land partners, or phased development. The vision does not shrink.

Is my donation tax-deductible?
No. Return to Her is not a nonprofit — it’s a woman-owned business built on radical values of freedom, care, and autonomy. This allows us to remain mission-driven without sacrificing integrity to fit into grant or board constraints.

Why aren’t you applying for grants?
We’ve explored grant options, but most available funding right now is extremely limited due to federal cutbacks. More importantly, many grants come with restrictions that don’t align with the heart of this project.

Return to Her is built around values of freedom, care, and feminist resistance — and we don’t want to dilute that to meet outside requirements. Crowdfunding allows us to build this space on our terms, with accountability to the women we’re building it for.

Will the retreat be affordable to attend?
Yes. One of the main reasons we’re raising this $500,000 down payment is to keep future retreat pricing reasonable. Our goal is to offer 4-night retreats at $1,100 per guest — which includes lodging, meals, supplies, and all programming. We also plan to build in sliding scale spots and scholarship opportunities as soon as we’re financially stable. Additionally, we’re exploring flexible payment options for women who need time to pay in installments—because rest should never be out of reach.

Is this a religious or spiritual retreat?
No. Return to Her is not affiliated with any religion. It’s a spiritually open space, rooted in nature, creativity, rest, and ritual — but it is not faith-based. Women of all backgrounds (or no spiritual beliefs at all) are welcome.

How will you ensure the space remains for women only?
Return to Her will be a women-centered, women-run space. From guest programming to staffing, every part of the experience is designed to protect the emotional and physical safety of women. This is not about exclusion — it’s about offering a rare place of refuge and sovereignty in a world that often denies it.

What about men?
Return to Her is a woman-only retreat.
It was created as a canctuary for women to rest, reconnect, and release - away from the dynamics, expectation, and emotional labor that many of us have carried in mixed of male-centered spaces.

This retreat exists because so many women have never known what it feels like to be in a space that is truly for them. Where their emotions are welcome. Where their bodies are safe. Where they don't have to explain their grief, their rage, or their exhaustion.

I believe men need healing too.

But I also believe their healing cannot, and should not, depend on women's continued emotional labor. We've done enough of that. So I would challenge anyone who is truly called to men's healing to create a space just as safe, intentional, and trauma informed as this one.

A space build by men, for men, where they too can return to themselves.

But this space? This is for women. For the ones who have carried too much, for too long, and are finally ready to be held.

Can I visit the land someday?
Possibly, yes — especially if you're a major donor or sponsor. While Return to Her will not be open to the public, there will be opportunities for supporters to attend opening celebrations, blessing circles, or future open house events.

Will I get updates after I donate?
Yes. All donors will receive milestone updates: land purchase, loan approval, construction progress, and the first retreat announcement. You can also follow the journey on returntoher.org and TikTok @returntoher_org.

How can I donate in honor of someone?
You’re welcome to leave a note or dedication when you give. Whether you’re donating in memory of someone, sponsoring a bed for a future guest, or honoring a woman who changed your life — this space will hold her name with care.

What if I can’t give financially right now?
You can still help by:

  • Sharing this campaign

  • Following @returntoher_org on social media

  • Sending a message of encouragement

  • Holding this vision with us
